Caramel Drizzled Ice Cream tart

I hope that your week is going great so far.  Today, I want to share with you a super simple dessert that’s perfect for when you are in a pinch or when you are simply craving a sweet treat.   Beat the HEAT with this simple and easy dessert for a crowd.

I don’t do this very often but I went with a frozen pastry tart as the base of this dessert. For one, they are simple to use and second they are very tasty and flaky.

This dessert literally only takes 17 minutes to prepare and yet it’s a delicious simple treat that you can dress up whatever way you like it.

Ingredients

  • 12 Pastry Tart Shells
  • Ice Cream
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Blueberries

Method

  1. Prepare the tart shells as per instructions.
  2. .

  3. Let tarts cool.
  4. Drizzle bottom of tart with caramel.
  5. Add ice cream.
  6. Top with blueberries.
  7. Drizzle with more caramel.
  8. Set back in the freezer to harden.
  9. ENJOY!

Zesty Tip: How to ensure a tender pastry crust? Minimal handling helps to achieve a tender crust. Think of your fingers as feathers, gently mixing the dough. Handle the dough just enough to mix it and roll it- it’s that simple. Lots of handling lengthens the gluten in the flour, making a chewy pie crust.

Before I leave for another day,  I was wondering - what is your favorite flavor of ice cream? For me I am pretty plain on most days and love vanilla ice cream.  Sometimes, when I’m feeling adventurous, I branch into Neapolitan.  Have a great hump day – the weekend will be here before you know it.

Stay tuned for some house pictures on Monday.  The landscaping is complete and looks great!

Take care

zesty

Ice-cream…one of my favorites. We CANNOT keep this in the house, but if we did, it would be a carton of mint cookie chunk. Love chocolate, love mint, love chunks!

Those look so good! And easy!

My favorite ice cream has always been mint chocolate chip, but only the GREEN kind. It’s better than the white kind. :)

Seriously, Zesty? Why must you tempt me so?! That picture is positively sugar coma-inducing…in a good way! I love the drip of caramel!

Thanks for the Zesty tip, too!

Favorite brand of ice cream: Neapolitan! Or coconut sorbet :)

Those little tarts are so cute. My little ones would love ‘em, and my big one too (the husband).

Favorite ice cream flavor? That’s like asking me to pick my favorite child! The top of the list would have pistachio, chocolate peanut butter and cookie dough!

Your dessert is beautiful!
As for my favorite flavor of ice cream, there was this cute little place near a camp I worked at one summer in Maine that had one ice cream flavor that combined all of my favorites: chocolate peanut butter cookie dough ice cream. It was heaven in a cup!

Looks awesome. I have something similar that is perfect for this time of year. A simple slice of pinapple, grilled on both sides on the BBQ. Put on a plate, put a scoop of ice cream in the centre and drizzle with the same caramel sauce. If you have berries sprinkle those around the sides. Strawberries right now are awesome with it. It’s a really simple, delicious dessert that is fabulous to throw toghether especially if you already have the BBQ hot for the earlier part of the meal.
Looking forward to the pictures on Monday for inspiration. My yard totally needs some help! Have a great weekend.
