I tried to make these last night - twice. Both times the cake seemed to rise perfectly and then over the last ten minutes of cooking the top cracked and the cake gradually collapsed in the middle! The outer edges are risen and crispy but there's no cake in mine! They certainly taste fudgey but don't look nearly as beautiful as your MIL's. The baking powder's new so I don't think it's that and I promise I didn't open the oven during cooking. Any help gratefully appreciated! Novice baker So what am I doing wrong??! They are so good and very easy..Maybe they are a "down east recipe" as I live in N.B. I used wholewheat flour as I felt somewhat guilty using so much butter and sugar, and it turned out well. Thank you for the recipe!
