Yes you read the title right, Zesty made beer bread! I had a few requests for this recipe so I thought that I would share it with you. No yeast, No rising, simply dump in the ingredients – give it a mix and drop it in the pan. Can you really get any easier than that?
I was thinking about making this all day long at work. As soon as I got home, I ran in the house, dropped my stuff and got right to it. Oh so simple, I could not wait to share.
This bread would be ideal to go along with a nice hearty stew or even along side a nice pasta dish.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Cups White Flour
- 1 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 4 1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder
- 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Butter (Melted)
- 12 Oz. Beer (you can use whatever kind you like)
Method
- Preheat oven 375 degrees F.
- Mix all dry ingredients together.
- Add beer and mix thoroughly until dough is still.
- Place dough in a lightly greased loaf pan.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top
- Bake until golden brown (approx. 60 minutes).
- Remove from oven and let rest for 15 minutes.
- ENJOY!
Zesty Tip: Sifting flour for bread recipes is a must. Most people just scoop the 1 cup measure in the flour canister and level it off. That compacts the flour and will turn your bread into a “hard biscuit”. If you do not have a sifter, use a spoon to place the flour into the 1 cup measure.
So there it is… possibly the easiest loaf of bread I have ever made.
Comments that were said as teeth sunk into this morsel of goodness were “WOW, this is amazing”, “The crust on top and bottom are so good”, “I love it”.
I pass this recipe on to you as one to try in your kitchen in the near future.
I hope you have a great Tuesday! If you are new to zesty and have not entered in the giveaway contest, be sure to get your name in the draw.
Take care
zesty

Yay Im glad you made this recipe and liked it! Im curious though what kind of beer did ya use?!?
YUM!!! That looks delicious!
Oh gosh, I never knew bread could be so easy…but Zesty, where are the chocolate covered almonds?!?
Hi Cory!
Beer and bread a wonderful combination
Love the texture so tempting!
I not tasted beer bread but it sure looks delicious especially the crust!
Oh man! I wish I had some of this right now! I’ll send you cookies, if you send me bread.
no kidding! that easy huh? OK, I’m in.
That has to be the easiest loaf of bread to make ever! What kind of beer did you use in your bread, or what would you suggest? I ask only because I don’t drink beer myself, so I wouldn’t know what to buy if I was to cook with it.
i had no clue that sifting flour would make such a difference! thank you for sharing
I love beer bread! I’ve never tried it, but I will now. What a simple recipe. I’m thinking a dark beer like Guinness would be amazing. I had a Guinness brown bread in Dublin and it’s one of the best breads I’ve every had. Yum!
Lori I made it with Guinness this past week and it was fantastic! Ive used ales as well turns out so delicious the flavors are completely different!
Hi There! I am totally new to your blog and love it! Your pictures are beautiful!
I’m wondering what kind of beer you used too!
@Royal, Marianne and Kath – I used Rickards Red as I had it on hand ( My fault – I should have added that in the recipe with a picture… so slack )
@Diana – Thanks very much. I appreciate that.
That looks so good! I will be snagging that recipe.
I love this recipe! Can’t believe this bread! I’ll have to try it!
ooh, i would sure like to sink my teeth into that loaf!!
Well, I’m sure gonna try to give this one a go. It is a really easy recipe. It amazes me the what they charge for mixes for this stuff.
Gotta love fresh homemade bread! It looks like an easy recipe too!
Wow, it’s really that easy? I’m in need of a good bread to go with 10 more servings of chili I have in the freezer, this is perfect! I’ll use my favorite: Guinness! I don’t actually think I have white flour, what about all WW? Any idea?
Now THIS looks like bread I can handle! I am totally scared of making the kind that has to rise and all that jazz. No sir! But I could totally handle throwing ingredients into a pan…and love that there is beer involved
Perhaps I’ll make some for the Superbowl!
Super super easy! I made this, but added caramelized onions, sausages, parmesan cheese, and parsley into the batter! The smell is sooooo delicious!
This was so easy to make but…it tasted off, almost like too much like baking powder, is 4 & a half tablespoons correct? It smelled amazing while baking and looked absolutely gorgeous though
I want to try it again for sure!!!!
@Amanda – I didn’t have any funny taste regarding the baking powder. It is 4 1/2 Teaspoons. If you used Tablespoons that may be the difference. Hope this helps
I have been looking for an easy bread recipe and I have found it. I wouldn’t use the beer (not a fan) but I want to make this bread!
I’m on a bit of a bread-kick these days, so I may just save this recipe for when my current loaf is all eaten… Look delicious!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment.
Can you use this for sandwiches? Or is it more of a side dish kind of bread? I’m out of yeast and am planning my next loaf. Think this would work?
I love beer bread! Yours look especially sinful
What type of beer do you use? My good friend makes a great beer bread and she always uses Heineken, which I don’t really care for.
Kaneil, balanceisbest
I made this last night. It really is as fast as you said!!! I found it a little sweet but for the speed and convenience of it I am not really complaining!!! Will be making this again and again!!!
Zesty, you rock! I just made this bread today with my friend, who happens to be a sous chef. We had such a blast making it. Our version includes Heineken, but being South African, I can’t wait to try it with one of our local beers.
We also added very strong parmesan (from an Italian farmer who runs a small diary just outside Johannesburg) & cheddar, chives, sprinkling of cumin, paprika & coriander (I think Americans call it cilantro?). Instead of melted butter on top, we drizzled a parmesan infused olive oil. We used all white flour because thats what we had & it turned out great! The taste, smell & texture are NUTS! I’m bookmarkin your tasty site.
@Lavina – I am so glad you enjoyed the bread!!
I’ve been looking all over for a beer bread recipe and based on all the comments and beautiful pictures I’ll def need to give this a try.
I also think there’s too much baking powder in this, and I did use teaspoons. It has a really strong aftertaste that I tasted for hours and can only think to attribute to the baking powder- maybe because mine is not aluminum-free..?? Also I’m going to cut back on the butter on top because I think it’s a bit greasy.
However, otherwise this bread is genius and incredibly easy and cheap to make, so I’m going to try it again with 3 tsp baking powder (or I’ll try mixing my own baking powder with baking soda and cream of tartar). Thanks for the recipe.
My mom always made a bread that was similar to this (minus the wheat flour). It’s so yummy!
