No Sweat Balsamic Glazed Salmon

Do you like salmon?  I happen to love salmon, so I’m going to share with you a super easy way to whip up some balsamic glazed salmon.

Pick up some salmon on the way home and you can be eating in no time.  Salmon also offers a great source of protein as well as “good” fats.  I have to be careful when I get all nutritional as I am by no means an expert in that category.  However, I do know a bit as I usually try to eat healthy and stay fit.

Back to the salmon.  For this dish, I like to pair it with basmati rice and a simple green vegetable such as spinach or kale.

Ingredients

  • 2 Salmon fillets
  • 1 Tsp. olive oil
  • 1/4 Cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh dill
  • Cracked black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat saute pan to medium high heat.

  3. Pat salmon dry with paper towel.
  4. Season with cracked black pepper.
  5. Sear salmon on both sides (3 minutes per side).
  6. Add balsamic vinegar and dill, continue cooking until translucent (should flake with a fork).
  7. Drizzle sauce over salmon.
  8. balsamic_salmon_pan

  9. ENJOY!

Zesty Tip: Using just a bit of olive oil and making sure to preheat the pan are the two tips for a perfectly sauteed piece of fish.  Also remember to let the fish cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes (depending on the thickness) to develop a nice crust. Be sure not to crowd the fish; cook it in batches rather than overcrowd the pan.

Question of the day:  What is your favorite type of fish?

So there you have it… a simple salmon dish that can be enjoyed by all.  This is a great switch up if you are a meat eater.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Take care

zesty

Zesty,

You couldn’t have posted this at a better time. My parents are coming into town today and I bought some salmon yesterday to make for them tonight. However I wasn’t sure how to season it. Thank you x 100 for this idea, I am going to try it!

If you consider shellfish, I love any type of crab. I love grouper as my favorite regular fish.

I loooove salmon! And it’s a pretty recent love, too. When I was little, my dad would make it and I’d refuse to eat it. The only way he’d get me to take a bite was by reminding me it was my favorite color (at the time): pink ;)

The glaze looks great, Zesty! I’ll definitely have to keep this one on file. Thanks!

This recipe looks wonderful – salmon is definitely one of my favorite types of fish! I made a dish with cod the other night, which is becoming another favorite fish. It’s hard to choose just one – I love seafood :)
