Happy Friday! I know the title sounds weird but for some reason I love a little alliteration to start off a post. I did this for Pork, Peppers and Pasta as well as Top Ten Toast Toppings and it never seems to get old for me. I am easily amused, what can I say?
On to the pizza. To sum it up in 3 words – it was delicious. I picked up the fresh dough at my favorite bakery and went from there. I used some homemade tomato sauce and then proceeded to kick it up with some of my favorite pizza toppings.
What do you like on your pizza? In the comments tell me your three favorite toppings on the pizza. I would like to see how the toppings vary amongst the readers.
For me, thick pizza dough is a treat every now and again. What I like to do is put down a little cornmeal on the work surface and have it work into the dough. I love it.
Ingredients
- Wholewheat Dough
- Pizza Sauce
- Shredded Mozzarella/Provolone
- Tomatoes
- Swiss Pepperoni
- Pineapple
- Basil
- Mushrooms
Method
- Preheat oven to 400 Degrees.
- Prep dough using your hands and creating a shape of your choice.
- Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce.
- Sprinkle some cheese.
- Add your toppings of choice.
- Top with cheese.
- Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown.
- ENJOY!!
Zesty Tip: Using a pizza stone will allow the crust to brown evenly. I like to preheat the stone in the oven and then slide the pizza on the stone. I prep the pizza on parchment paper before sliding it onto the stone.
Today is the 3rd last day to enter into the clothing giveaway! Make sure you get your name in the hat. I will see you all on Monday with the winner announced and another zesty idea in mind. Have a great weekend and keep smiling.
Take care
Zesty

You made triple P pasta salad and now triple P pizza! This pizza looks amazing. I love the pineapple and the thick crust! I like lots of veggies on my pizza.
Gorgeous pizza! YUM!
I like my pizza LOADED with vegetables, spicy marinara, and fresh basil.
I love all varieties of toppings depending on my mood but goat cheese is my favorite with pumpkin and choppped dried figs.
Give me a Chicago-style deep-dish with spinach, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes and TONS of parmesan and hot pepper! YUM!
Veggies, veggies, veggies! Onions, peppers, and broccoli are some of my faves.
i like alliterations, too. and your pizza looks delicious! it’s like a gourmet hawaiian pizza
my 3 favorite toppings = pesto, fresh tomatoes, and spinach
Lots of sauce, fresh mozz, and PLENTY of veggies!
Mushrooms, peppers, and onions. Kath of Katheats will probably freak out at the onions, but … I love ‘em. Espec. on my pizza. Your looks great!
Your post totally made me hungry for pizza and I just ate breakfast =P My favorite toppings by far are -Pineapple -Mushrooms -Onions and a 4th one just for fun -Soy Crumbles!! If they’re all together it’s even better!
I go for the “unconventional” pizza and prefer to top it with peanut sauce, mushrooms, and tofu.
My favorite it a pizza dressed with olive oil. Then add roasted garlic, chicken, spinach, fresh mozzarella, ricotta and shredded moz! Oh my gosh I’m craving it now!!!
Pineapple pizza happens to be my favorite pizza! And I happen to be hungry right now, so… I’ll go and make dinner right away!
Mmm…artichoke hearts, basil and olives….
I am pretty bland…I just like cheese on mine. A little mozzie, and some parmesan (the cheap stuff in the green can!) I have a secret passion for ChefBAD (ha!) boxed pizza.
Sometimes I like just sauce.
If I get really wild I will throw on some peppers and onions
Yum! That pizza looks fantastic! My favorite pizza is pear, blue cheese and hazelnuts.
Mmmm, that pizza looks amazing! I love MOST veggies–really all except ONIONS! I made a delicious pizza recently that had sweet potatoes, spinach and some red peppers on it. It just had a drizzle of olive oil and some thinly sliced tomatoes on as “sauce”, then sprinkled with some seasonings. SO good!
We’re having pizza tonight with the boys and we’re going to shape it like a snake! We’ll see how that goes.
Jean listed my favorite pizza, but instead of olive oil on my chicken, garlic, and cheese, I prefer a white sauce.
I rarely eat pineapple pizza because my family looks at me funny, but yours looks absolutely amazing.
I’d be interested to know how to do that dough. I’ve tried focaccia bread as pizza but it was a little bready.
Yummmmm, I love homemade pizza. We have this at least once every couple of weeks! My favorite is canadian bacon, sun dried tomatos and red onions with just a little bit of sauce. I’m not much of a sauce fun. I’m really not that picky though, so if it’s homemade, I’ll eat it!
My fav is thin crust, lots of cheese, Canadian bacon, pineapple and fresh tomatoes! Yummy!
I love pesto, goat cheese, and some type of veggie on my pizza
I’m planning on making a pita pizza tonight!
The title just sounds good!
look at that cheesey goodness! DELISH!
fave combos – cheese, cheese, cheese!
Ha! In all seriousness, I also like greek pizza- i.e. spinach, roasted red peppers, goat or feta cheese, pine nuts and sundried tomatoes (OK, more than 3, but still…)
Pizza is one of my favorites and I love making the dough too because it makes a ton and it’s fun! I usually put the usual roasted veggies, mushrooms, chicken sausage and fontina cheese on top. One of my other favorites is pesto pizza, and I also like to use a balsamic reduction as the sauce, top it with fontina, crispy prosciutto, fresh figs or grilled peaches, pine nuts and fresh basil. That one is to die for!! I like to grill them too. Have a happy Friday and a great weekend!

It looks fantastic Zesty! I love cheese and green peppers with lots of onion on my pizza!
Well, let me whip the drool off the keyboard. That last picture with a bite out of it sent me over the top. I simply adore pizza. All time favorite food. That is saying a lot since there if so much great food in the world? I did a post a year ago on my favorite pizza, which is actually a salad pizza. Really good. I also love whole wheat pizza dough. Gives it more body. Thanks again for a great post!
Oh here is the link to the salad pizza

PS Congrats on your ebook!Wow!
mm any type of veggies on pizza!
Oh my gosh, this looks delicious!! I’m definitely adding it to my recipe book!
I like pineapple on my pizza as well and that pizza looks good!. I can never seem to have the same pizza twice and I am always searching for new flavour combos. My most recent favorite was a Thai pizza with a spicy Thai peanut sauce, cheese and vegetables.
I’m going to have to say that you are a culinary genius!
anything including the word “puffy” makes me v.v. happy.
Looks delicious! And I love the alliteration!
mmmmmm- this looks SOOOO good. I love pineapple mixed with almost anything and it is just awesome on a pizza. I’m usually somewhat plain with my pizza toppings- I love tomato sauce, broccoli, a little cheese, and onions. Hope you are having such a great weekend!
my fav pizza is plain old cheese. a tiny bit of sauce, a tiny bit of fresh mozzarella, and some delicious fresh basil from my aunt’s garden. YUM!!!
Fav toppings include: mushrooms, onion & peppers!
I’ve never made my own pizza crust before.. i’m a bit intimidated to try! Any tips?
@Leah – I was in the same boat before I started with my own dough. I think the best thing to try is first start with a bakery dough like I used here and get comfortable in handling the dough in preparation. After that, you are ready to create your own from scratch. My only suggestion is to follow a recipe precisely and take your time. Once you do it once – you will be fine and have more confidence each time out. Hope this helps.
