I recently made a "shepherds" pie (with ground turkey and sweet potato topping and it was fabulous -- so I highly recommend the substitution.

Love the Shepherd's Pie :) I have a similar recipe, though there are several more ingredients, including some herbs. I recently discovered it and will never make "hamburger pie" again. You know the kind, using green beans and tomato soup? Blah

Hi Zesty, once again the photo is fabulous!
I had once tried the Shepherds pie in a Irish restaurant and deeply addicted. I had cooked it once with the sweet potato. actually it's pretty good !! the sweet potato is not that sweet anymore, instead it absorb the juice from that beef (not greasy neither). I personally prefer it than the potato one!.
I strongly recommend you try it!

We make a terrific version of this that i like better than the original. it's not a casserole - I just make mashed potatoes and then make a "gravy" with ground meat, cream of mushroom soup, water, and corn to put on top. It's so good! And a little easier than traditional shepherd's pie.

Why not try to get a CRAZY # of comments and reward your readers for it. You should totally do it.

That Shepherd's pie look awesome - total winter comfort food. It's still in the 80's here but as soon as it cools off.....this would be delish!
