Happy Friday! I know the title sounds weird but for some reason I love a little alliteration to start off a post. I did this for Pork, Peppers and Pasta as well as Top Ten Toast Toppings and it never seems to get old for me. I am easily amused, what can I say?
On to the pizza. To sum it up in 3 words - it was delicious. I picked up the fresh dough at my favorite bakery and went from there. I used some homemade tomato sauce and then proceeded to kick it up with some of my favorite pizza toppings.

What do you like on your pizza? In the comments tell me your three favorite toppings on the pizza. I would like to see how the toppings vary amongst the readers.

When I woke up this morning, I had a craving for something hot but something a little different. Every now and again I get a huge craving for a “greasy breakfast“. A good ole plate of bacon and eggs. It works out great as I have some left over turkey bacon from the Asparagus Bacon Salad the other day.
I thought I would switch it up and cook it all together in one pan. This is how it turned out in the picture below. I topped it with a little bit of ketchup but forgot to include that in the photo.

Basically it is a hot breakfast in a bowl that combines the taste of bacon, eggs and hash browns in every bite.

Ever crave homemade bread but you don’t have the energy to do it from scratch? I had this issue on Tuesday - so I decided to haul out the bread maker and let it do the work for me. I am a little lazy at times or perhaps it’s better to call it efficient. Neither here nor there, I want to share with you a very nice bread recipe for your bread maker.

Cheesy Cheese Bread sounded delicious when I read it and I had all the ingredients on hand. What the heck, lets drop the ingredients into the bread maker and let it spin.
Remember with bread maker recipes you have to follow the measurements exactly or you could have a flop.

Ever feel like Pizza but do not want to leave the house or order delivery? It happens to me the odd time. There are not a lot of great pizza joints around here other than - what I call the prefab chain pizza stores that really don’t taste the best.

So lately I have been experimenting with some homemade dough to kick things up a notch. This dough recipe comes from Everyday Food by Martha Stewart. I really enjoyed this recipe as it turned out really well. For me pizza is all about the crust! Toppings are good but I am a huge fan when it’s light on the toppings and sauce but heavy on the crust.
If you are interested in a new whole wheat pizza dough, I highly recommend this recipe. It is very simple and produces a great texture. I opted for a thin crust and left the pizza on the stone for a little crunch. YUM!

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening… depending on when you are reading this and what part of the world you are located. This week has flown by very quickly which is a good thing since I enjoy the weekends so much. Even though it’s a weeknight, I am going to a comedy show starring Jeremy Hotz. I am pretty excited as it will be a nice break from the regular routine.
So I guess you’re wondering about the title, Not your average ham and cheese. I had some Pita bread that I picked up from the bakery and I always seem to have some roasted turkey breast or deli ham in the fridge for a quick sandwich. As I love to use leftovers, I thought I would share a pita sandwich that I put together.

It is nothing fancy but great as a lunch or even a quick meal on the run. Another great way to kick this up and add a different texture is to grill it with an indoor grill or even on the barbecue. Basically grill it until the pita browns and the cheese melts.
Ingredients
- Pita Bread
- Ham Slices
- Lettuce
- Parsley (only if you have any)
- Tomatoes
- Cucumbers
- Parmesan Cheese ( sliced )
- 1 Tsp. Chili Powder
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard
Method
- Cut the Pita bread in two and create a pocket like opening.
- Mix chili powder, mayonnaise, and mustard together to make a spread.
- Smear inside pita bread with some of the spread.
- Place all other ingredients in the pita (be gentle).
- ENJOY!
Zesty Tip: When using pita bread, if you find it is getting stale or simply not as fresh - a quick technique to bring it back to life is to slightly dampen the bread with your wet fingers and then place it in the oven for a few minutes.
Question of the Day:
What is your favorite Deli Meat?
I hope you have a great Thursday and I look forward to hearing all your answers regarding today’s question.
Take care
