Happy Tuesday everybody! Quite a title for this post… isn’t it? Well I am hoping to have an interactive post about toppings for your toast. Now of course there is plain butter but I thought I would share with you some of my all-time favorite toppings for toast. In return, I would love for each and every reader to post their favorite topping in the comments section. I think this will be fun!
Let’s keep in mind that the options are endless and it’s very difficult to narrow it down to just ten. It just so happens that I have a couple of different loaves of bread on hand so here are some of my favorites and a couple pictures.
Zesty Tip: When cooking toast, always try and add the topping as soon as the toast is popped and at it’s hottest point. Also if you are adding a fairly heavy topping, I like to brown the toast a little darker than normal to avoid the bread getting soggy.
So there you have it, my top ten toast toppings! I am sure that there are hundreds of combinations out there, so let’s hear them. This is a great opportunity for you to share your crazy toast toppings. You just may realize that it is not that crazy after all. Have a great Tuesday everybody. Keep Smiling.

Great post! What type of bread is that? It looks like seeduction bread I get from Whole Foods.
What a great post!
My faves are:
brie
avocado
peanut butter
marinara sauce and a fried egg
I soooo agree with you on the PB, Nutella and banana! It was my favourite breakkie growing up!
My all-time favorite standby is butter and honey on crusty white bread. A basic favorite of mine is toasted extra-sour sourdough with globs of salty butter! And finally, pumpernickel topped with slices of pear, with a slice of brie melted over the top is just heavenly! Oh, and a shout out as well to french bread slathered with homemade bitter-orange marmalade.
zesty,
too many choices to name!
I love anything on good bread/toast.
just plain butter would be good if the bread is perfect.
I am enjoying your blog.
You seem very happy and I like that you are willing to share subjects such as photography, how to get people to see your blog, etc. You are good egg!
I have had so many hits on my site after you stumbled my turkey breast a while back. Thanks! I had never heard of stumble it!
Keep up the great work!

Ooh… I lurve toast with:
- plain butter (no fakey margarine stuff, just lovely yellowy Kerrygold butter)
- butter and vegemite, especially if there may be a hangover involved
- sharp cheddar with homemade courgette and onion pickle for lunch
and for dessert:
- crunchy peanut butter and honey
- butter and gobs of homemade rhubarb jam
Yum!
I’m liking the second option — I’ m addicted to Nutella.
Apple butter is by far my favorite on toast!
I agree with number 1. Homemade applesauce and toast is such a great snack or light dessert after a heavy breakfast.
Ok, I just found this, thanks to Tastespotting.com. Nice idea!
My favorite, although usually only on special occasions, very thinly sliced apples, a dash of nutmeg, and maybe a little sugar or honey, depending on the apple. Topped with grated Jarlsberg Cheese and put back under the broiler until cheese melts. Open face.
Sandwich: Toasted bread, bacon, honey, peanut butter
to pick one of these as a fave is no problem for me - i swear by my nutella, PB, and banana in the mornings
cute post!
Great post - here’s my top 10 list
1. Smoked salmon and capers
2. Slice of Jarlsberg with mustard and pickles
3. Melted Mozzarella and capers
4. Melted Mozzarella, tomato sauce and oregano
5. Baby Swiss, tomato slices and oregano
6. Peanut butter and mashed bananas
7. Turkey, mustard and pickles
8. Melted butterscotch chips sprinkled with cinnamon
9. Mashed bananas sprinked with cinnamon
10. Melted marshmallows and chocolate chips
Try making the apple butter with Ceylon Cinnamon. I got some online at Juliet Mae Spices, I made a big difference!
